PEOPLES PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT PRESS RELEASE 5th August,2013 POLITICIANS WHO DEFECTS FROM PP ARE USELESS PEOPLE – PP The Peoples Progressive Movement (PPM) would like to express its deep concern and worry on the future of our nation if it continues to be ruled by the calibre of leadership in PP who enjoy castigating its citizens in the media and political podium without shame, fear, regret or human remorse to the extent of calling the citizenry USELESS this is very un called for Malawians deserve respect and diginity at all levels regardless of which status the citizen is categorized. PPM is dismayed and extremely disappointed by the remarks made by Honourable Ken Msonda the PP’s Deputy Publicity Secretary who called members defecting from Peoples Party to other parties as useless people among other unfortunate remarks he made on MIJ FM Radio on 2nd August 2013 in the 0700hours News Bulletin. This is in addition to derogatory remarks Hon. Msonda made last week on democracy forum. These are not the only unfortunate remarks to the Malawi Citizenry by the top leadership of People’s Party. There has been several unfortunate and derogatory remarks from PP leaders starting from the President herself down to other top leaders in the party who have castigated Malawians including castigating people because they are not married and calling political leaders and civil society activists with all sorts of names, including calling for the return of the notorious one party system. This behavior has persisted in PP despite condemnation by all sectors of the society including the Diplomatic Community. Reference to Honourable Msonda’s remarks of calling Malawians useless, PPM would like to put it to the Peoples Party leadership that no Malawian is USELESS. PPM believes that every individual Malawian is useful and everyone can be productive to his/her full potential to the benefit of Malawi if properly trained and natured. PPM is aware that some Malawians may not be highly productive to their full potential because of Government failure to initiate and develop productive programmes in all sectors of our society. This cannot be blamed to individual Malawians but government failure to move Malawians out of poverty. PP Leadership must be aware that the party was not voted into power. It is in government because of a constitutional provision, because of the death of the former president late Prof. Bingu Wa Mutharika who died last year while serving as a President as such one wonders how the party would conduct itself as if it was found into power by the mandate of the people to rule Malawi through the ballot. PPM would like to demand Hon Ken Msonda to apologize to the Malawi Nation for calling the citizens useless and the party must apologize for the numerous derogatory remarks its leadership has made to Malawians in various fora including the Government Media (MBC) and the National Political Podium. The party should be aware that its leaders and members use government assets and resources which are the property of the very citizens their party has continuously castigating them left right centre at every opportunity. PPM IS making its message clear to People’s party to desist from politics of self styling of castigating Malawians, this is old fashion style. Malawians are tired of this style. Malawi is moving forward we will not allow them to continue with shameful behavior in this country. We are busy making plans to rebuild Malawi that used to enjoy respect across Africa and the world at large and bring back the dignity Malawi used to enjoy. As we are going towards elections, such type of remarks can provoke misunderstandings that can lead up to fighting among Malawians .
