PERALUX is an immersive visual installation featuring original animation projection-mapped to a custom sculpture from Detroit visual artists Gabriel Hall and Daniel Land, originally incorporated into the special exhibit WATCH ME MOVE: THE ANIMATION SHOW at the Detroit Institute of the Arts, from Oct. 6th - Jan. 5th. The museum approached the artists about adding something unique to the traveling animation exhibit, and the challenge was to use this new technological art form to suggest what the future of animation may hold. PERALUX is a sensory experience for young and old that shatters the limits of the 2D rectangular screens (be they silver, glass, or plasma) that have held moving images captive for a century. Visitors are invited on an immersive journey of light as animation escapes the frame to interact with the real world of solid shapes and architecture. This ever evolving sculpture has been specially adapted for display inside the Urban Institute of Contemporary Arts.
