PERSPECTIVE Police officers are the attack dogs of white supremacist, capitalist, terroristic violence, rendered domestically. Because they belong to - and are protected by - the state, they will never be punished for threatening, harassing, abusing and murdering Black, Brown, poor, mentally ill and other people who have been made vulnerable by the deadly interplay of the forces of racism, capitalism and heteropatriarchy. [the above lays bare the unofficial job description of all police forces and captures the *real* meaning behind the phrase To Protect and To Serve] We have to grasp that, when we witness Eric Garner being harassed, attacked and ultimately killed, we are, in fact, watching a demonstration of good policing, as it is implicitly understood - and enthusiastically sanctioned - by the same Yankee, imperialist system that daily green-lights similar practices across the Global South.
