PETITION PAPPER TO: THE PROVINCIAL ADMINISTRATOR MADANG PROVINCIAL ADMINISTRATION PURPOSE OF PETITION: TO SACK MR. SIMON SIMOI AS THE PROVINCIAL PLANNER FOR MADANG PROVINCE. We, Presidents from rural underdeveloped districts of Middle Ramu and Raicoast submit this petition following a DISCRIMINATORY statement made by the Advisor for Planning Mr Simon Simoi. Mr Simoi, at 9:20 am on Monday the 20th of October, stated in Tokpisin in front of an audience that “ mipela ino longlong olsem ol Simbai na Raikos” This state is discriminatory in nature and for a very senior officer in the provincial administration to make such statement is a slap on the face of all the people of Middle Ramu and Raicoast Districts. Is racist thinking a major factor for the underdevelopment of the least developed districts in the Province? Any person occupying higher level position and having the responsibility of planning for people of this province and making decisions for fair and equal distribution of the wealth of this province SHOULD THINK ABOUT THE LAST PERSON IN THE QUE. His statement disqualifies him from occupying the position he currently holds. A Planner with such perception of thinking will never plan for the disadvantage areas of this province. We the leaders of Middle Ramu and Raicoast District hereby petition the Madang Provincial Administration that: 1. Mr. Simoi Publicly apologize to the people of Simbai and Raicoast through all forms of available media. 2. The Madang Provincial Administration immediately terminate his contract (if employed through contract arrangements). 3. The Madang Provincial Administration immediately sack Mr.Simon Simoi as the Advisor for Planning. 4. The Madang Provincial Administration immediately employ a new officer for the position following normal recruitment and selection process. 5. The people of Simbai and Raicoast will put up a protest much to physically remove Mr. Simoi from the Planning Office should these demands not being met within 14 days after receiving this petition. I am requesting public opinion from Raicoast people on such discriminatory statement.
