PF Celebrates Miles Reconciliation Gesture The Patriotic Front has celebrated the reconciliation gesture by Miles Sampa who invited the party’s presidential candidate Edgar Lungu and Acting President Guy Scott to Matero for the ceremony. Miles, the Matero lawmaker, was in denial and skipped the main reconciliation meeting a few weeks ago after his presidential ambition was thrashed by the general populace of the party. Below is a statement by Harry Kalaba – Lungu’s campaign spokesperson. STATEMENT ISSUED BY HON. HARRY KALABA, MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, SPOKESPERSON OF CAMPAIGN TEAM OF THE PF ON 2ND JANUARY 2015 REGARDING MATERO MP MILES SAMPA RECONCILIATION WITH HON. EDGAR LUNGU, PF PRESIDENT ——————————————————————————– Members of the Media, good morning and a happy new year once again. The public and open show of unity that we saw on New Years day between PF President Edgar Chagwa Lungu and his younger, the Matero Legislator Miles Sampa cannot go without comment. I know I speak for the entire party when I say that it (reconciliation) was a clear sign that the best is yet to come for our party and that ours is a politically mature party that is capable of healing itself and moving forward in unity. The open show of unity yesterday further re-affirmed what we as a grass roots party founded on the premise of service to the poor and that our foundation remains strong—it that cannot be shaken by any bad political weather. Our enemies that were happy to see some so-called divisions during recent days must be extremely disappointed that we have emerged out of all this ‘intra-party’ democracy a much stronger family. We have also demonstrated a strong ability to build on that which unites us and not that which divides us. Our responsibility, and we take it very seriously, is to ensure that hon. Edgar Lungu wins the election on 20th January 2015 so that we can continue with our programmes of reducing poverty and creating jobs. Happy New Year to you all and God Bless you. Hon.
