PHL EMBASSY CONDUCTS CONSULAR SERVICES AND OVERSEAS VOTERS REGISTRATION IN KAMPALA, UGANDA 19 August 2014 – Upon the request of the Filipino community in Uganda, the Philippine Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya conducted mobile consular service and overseas voters registration on August 3 in Kampala, Uganda. More than 80 people availed of various consular services such as renewal of passports, civil registry and overseas Filipino workers (OFW) registration. Fifty eight (58) were processed for overseas voting registration, which include new registrants and those applying for transfer/certifications. The mobile service was part of the activities organized by the Filipino community in Uganda on the occasion of the induction and oath taking of the new set of officers of the Filipino Foundation Uganda, Ltd. (FFUL). The Embassy’s mobile service team leader read the message of Philippine Ambassador Bayani V. Mangibin for the occasion and received the certificate of appreciation awarded by the FFUL in recognition of the Philippine Embassy’s support and assistance to the FFUL and the Filipino community in Uganda. There are around 400 Filipinos living and working in Uganda as engineers, accountants, hotel managers/employees, teachers and missionaries. END
