PIA-1/PANGASINAN: Coastal areas in Western Pangasinan remain free from red tide toxin as shown in the results of the laboratory analyses conducted by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR). Based on Shellfish Bulletin No. 21 issued by the bureau on August 22, all types of shellfish gathered from the coastal waters of Bolinao, Anda, Alaminos City and barangay Wawa in Bani are safe for human consumption. BFAR Regional Director Nestor Domenden said fish, squids, shrimps, crabs and seashells like mussels and oysters are safe safe to eat provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly, and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking.
