PIA-NCR: In line with the celebration of the Breastfeeding Week (August 1 - 7), the World Health Organization (WHO) calls on the public to support breastfeeding. Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended from birth up to six months then continued breastfeeding along with complementary foods up to two years of age or beyond. WHO said that breastfeeding is the best source of nourishment for infants and the most effective means to ensure its survival. Apart from protecting infants, breastfeeding also benefits mothers by reducing the risk of breast and ovarian cancer.
