P A H T is a new class that ALL 1st Responders have to have by the next time they re-certify 2) FRIDAY NIGHT 6:00 – 10:00 PM WILDLAND FIREFIGHTING AWARENESS This course is a product of portions from the S – 130 (basic wildland firefighting) & S – 190 (wildland fire behavior) courses. The Kentucky Fire Commission adopted this course for basic firefighting knowledge & is MANDATORY for all new firefighters after 07/01/01. 3) FRIDAY NIGHT 6:00 – 10:00PM COURAGE TO BE SAFE Firefighters must have the courage to face a multitude of risk in order to save lives & property. A different type of courage is required to stay safe in dangerous situation. This program is designed to change the culture of accepting the loss of a firefighter 4) FIREFIGHTER SURVIVAL SATURDAY ONLY This course will emphasize removal of a trapped or unconscious firefighters from a burning building & self rescue techniques when the primary escape route is blocked. This is a required class for all NEW firefighters effective 07/01/00 FULL TURN OUT GEAR & SCBA REQUIRED 5) FIRFIGHTER RESCUE SUNDAY ONLY This course is designed to teach us how to rescue victims from a burning building. Special techniques are used for rescue, OSHA 2 in 2 out regulation. This is a required class set forth by Ky. Fire Commission. FULL TURNOUT GEAR & S C B A REQUIRED 6) PROPANE EMERGENCIES SATURDAY ONLY This is a “ LIVE FIRE, HANDS – ON class that will be deal with bobtail delivery propane trucks. Fire attack & locations of shut off vales will also be covered in class FULL TURNOUT GEAR ,S C B A & SPARE CYLINDER 7) FIRE CONTROL 101 SUNDAY ONLY This is a “ LIVE FIRE, HANDS – ON class that will teach firefighters basic fire control & basic fire behavior. Students must be proficient with PPE, SCBA, FIRE HOSE NOZZLE, FIRE STREAMS FULL TURNOUT GEAR ,S C B A & SPARE CYLINDER 8) NFPA HYBRID VEHICLE SAFETY SATURDAY ONLY A new course first time offered at this fire school. This course will provide firefighters & 1st responders with the information & materials to respond to emergency situations involving ALL advanced electric vehicles & hybrid vehicles on the road today. 9) EMERGENCY TRAFFIC CONTROL & HIGHWAY CRASH SITE MANAGEMENT SUNDAY ONLY This course combines 2 classes into 1 to enhance responders safety by establishing guidelines for traffic control & safe traffic flow through the incident & to bring all major players together & help them understand the importance of a unified, coordinated effort when managing & clearing a highway crash. 10) BASIC ESSENTIALS OF FIREFIGHTING: This 2 day course is for the new firefighter to get 16 hrs. of the recommended 20 hrs. from the Fire Commission, to respond to calls FULL TURNOUT GEAR & S.C.B.A. ARE REQUIRED 4) FIREFIGHTER SURVIVAL SATURDAY ONLY This course will emphasize removal of a trapped or unconscious firefighters from a burning building & self rescue techniques when the primary escape route is blocked. This 2 – day course is designed to provide students with some basic tools & skills to coordinate training in a small Fire/EMS organizations. Course content includes: Leadership, Identifying legal issues, Justifying training needs, just to mention a few. THIS COURSE MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH BY THE KY. FIRE COMMISSION, FOR INSTRUCTORS METHODOLOGY UPDATE HOURS. 13) INTERMEDIATE ROPE RESCUE This 2 day course is designed to provide participants with the skills to perform vertical recues. Review basic low angel rescues. This is a HANDS - ON class. SAFETY GLASSES, GLOVES, BOOTS & HELMET ARE REQUIRED 14) ARSON I( Arson Detection for the First Responder) This 2 day course is designed specifically to provide a clear definition of the role of initial responder & to provide essential knowledge to enable them to recognize the potential of an intentionally set fire. 15) EMT CON-ED This 2 day course will offer the 16 hours that are mandatory for EMT’S & 1ST Responders to have for re-certification by KBEMS. This class will be a combination of lecture & hands on skills . 16) ADVANCED VEHICLE EXTRICATION This 2 day course is for the experienced rescuer. This will be a, HANDS – ON CLASS dealing with multiple vehicles, with multiple scenarios.
