PILGRIMAGE: AMOSUN TASKS CHRISTIANS ON GOOD CONDUCT Intending Christian Pilgrims from Ogun State to this years holy pilgrimage to Israel have been charged to shun acts capable of tarnishing the image of the State and the nation. The State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun gave the charge at a farewell service organised for the pilgrims held at the Valley View Auditorium, Government House, Abeokuta. Represented by his Deputy, Prince Segun Adesegun, Governor Amosun reminded those embarking on the journey to consider it a privilege, saying that it was an opportunity for them to seek for spiritual rebirth as well as pray for the peace and progress of the State and the nation. The Governor who described good works as one of the attributes of a good Christian, urged them to deligently read their Bibles and abide by the words of God, pointing out that it was when this was done that their journey to the holy land would be meaningful. I want to urge you to read your Bible diligently and let people see the good works in you. Good work makes a good Christian and not going to Jerusalem. Remember, the fact that you are going to Jerusalem does not make you better than those who are not going, the Governor admonished. Also speaking, the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun while wishing the Pilgrims journey mercies, said it was a landmark achievement which would enable them seek the face of God and see for themselves places of historic importance that they must have read about in the Bible. In his sermon, the Rector, Crowther Theological Seminary, Abeokuta, Right Reverend Dapo Asiwaju, represented by the Chaplain of the Seminary, Reverend Cannon Segun Akinola charged Christians to work towards making heaven as this was more important and permanent than going to the earthly Jerusalem.
