PLEASE CORRECT ME.............. The wisdom of Katsina Discussion Group is predicated on discussing and debating issues that have direct relationship and would impact positively to the people of Katsina State. My scope of understanding is that we would engage ourselves with in particular, discussing circumstances of a particular situation or the substances of a discourse or writing. By substance i infer to issues of practical importance capable of having an impact to the defined entity-Katsina; Issues such as Education, Healthcare, Agriculture and Water supply, Environment, Socio- Cultural Values etc. I have watched, with great concern, how our set goals are gradually loosing traction in the rear wheels of our noble group intendments. I believe most of the members of this group, if not all, have fields of specialization and experiences which the group could proudly share with concerned Katsinawa for development purposes. It would be interesting to read from our members for instance: An appraisal of the Agricultural Sector, its challenges and opportunities in the State; An eye view on our Educational Sector and how best to improve it; A Critical Analysis of the Health Sector; Environmental concerns including threats of deforestation / desertification and possible remediation measures; Enhancing performance and avoiding leakages in the institutional framework; Promoting Our cherished Cultural heritage; Addressing contemporary Islamic Issues etc. Posts generated by Abu Aminu and Muhammad Hadi Balarabe for example, have always addressed such issues of great concern thus eliciting tangible comments. However, most of our posts remained personified and self adulations, mere flattery or admiration. All of the above perspectives are real issues and constitutes the realm within which progress can effectively be assessed. Our membership constitutes a stream of ideas which we should share and debate on for the purpose of getting things right by our leaders. While i concur that the Group would only be advisory to governments at all levels, the pool of generated ideas that have currency may in the long run be subject of intense debate before vying for any leadership position among and between various interest groups. For politicians including yours sincerely, this may be an opportunity to showcase what we feel ought to be done in areas of concern and avail the general public the best option for successful leadership. Let us encourage this kind of intercourse for if current events are anything to go by, the next election would be issue centred. I sincerely wish that bed time stories should best be preserved for our grand children. This is my understanding of the mission of Katsina Discussion Group-discussing issues relating to the Development of Katsina State and Nigeria in general. Please correct me if I misconceived the Group.
