PLEASE DONT POLITICIZE EBOLA!! Just few weeks Nigeria was declared Ebola free, Some Nigerian politicians are beginining to lay claims on who made the breakthrough that enabled the nation to send Ebola packing. This development portends danger to the national disaster management approach which should be a matter of national interest devoid of sentiment and partisanship. But this leaves much to be desired to the consciences of good and patriotic Nigerians who labour to see a great Nigeria while neglecting their personal interest. Sadly, Fashola of Lagos state is now carrying media propaganda against the incumbent administration ( GEJ) that he was instrumental to the containment of Ebola outbreak in Nigeria. He further added that those laying claim of leadership definition by sending Ebola packing should desist from doing so because they never saw the disease. What some of our leaders fail to understand is the fact that we still have some educated discernable Nigerians who are atoned and abreast of contemporary global politics who are handy to put records straight despite attempts to shroud some spirited efforts with blackmail and falsehood. Yes! Not all Nigerians are gullible. Now, the basic question that accrues to Fashola claim of Ebola containment are: should we now promote a state (Lagos) in Nigeria as the federal government in the global community just to recognize Fashola (Lagos) input in the war against Ebola? Since Fashola wants to enjoy the global appreciation on Nigeria over the Ebola saga, should we now blame the three state governors whose states are under Book Haram attacks as the major cause of the attack? What value or lesson is there to learn that we try to politicize what would have been a national calamity if not by the all-inclusive efforts of the stakeholders i.e the Federal government, Lagos state and ministry of health in tackling the disease? Conclusively therefore, the negative consequences of national disasters mismanagement is heightened and emboldened by this development and we must say to politics over national interest; this is because politics is not a good companion in any progressive venture.
