**PLEASE READ IF YOU SELL DIGITAL DOWNLOADS OF MUSIC / PATTERNS / E-BOOKS IN THE UK** So... #VATMOSS Who the what, now? This appears to be a mess of the HMRCs making in tandem with some badly drawn up EU legislation intended, apparently, to tackle the likes of Amazon... it seems that the HMRCs notion of a small business is one with up to ten employees and under a £2m turnover. The result, it seems, is to force microbusinesses in the UK, knitting pattern designers, e-book sellers, and yes, musicians who utilise platforms like Bandcamp, into registering for VAT with all that entails. Or, I suppose, not sell in the EU. Where possible... Im looking at this, not just because it will affect me (and it will - better go buy what you want from my Bandcamp site while you can, because I may need to close it at the end of the month) but also because its been raised under the banner of So youre standing for office, Talis, what do you think about this and will you support us? :-) Thats already something Im hearing a LOT, and I am working on a framework so that I let folks know honestly what I can and cant do.
