PLEASE REMEMBER LOT’S WIFE AND ESAU: Luke.17:32. Remember Lots wife. Hebrews.12:15-17. Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears. Our message today is calling us to remember two people who lived in bible days. (1) A woman, Lot’s wife who became a pillar of salt because of disobedient to a simple instruction and commandment “look not behind thee”. (2) We are also called to remember Esau who because of ordinary food sold his birthright. We need to take-heed to this message because our future is involved here. THE PERIL OF LOOKING BACK: Luke.17:32; Gen.19:1, 12-17, 23-26. Lot’s wife serves as a warning to all Christian men and women on their way to heaven. Lot’s wife though she escaped from Sodom and Gomorrah still perished because of her not taking heed to the word of God through the angels God’s messengers. The following are the problems we see in Lot’s wife which we need to look well so that none of them is in our life. (1) She left Sodom and Gomorrah but her heart was still in Sodom and Gomorrah. You have left the world have the world left your heart. (2) She doubted or forgot the commandment never to look back and she looked back and became a pillar of salts. (3) She disobeyed divine instruction and was judged instantly. (4) She escaped the fire of Sodom and Gomorrah but did not escape the judgment of God. (5) Her worldliness and carnality caused her to look back. (6) Sin no matter how small will not be over looked by God. (7) Though she saw angels of God, yet she still perished. 1Cor.10:12. Whatever experience you might have had in the past as experience, beware less you fall. No matter the visions and revelations you have had yet beware backsliding is still possible if you are not careful. There is no eternal security once saved forever saved. If you sin or disobey you lose your son-ship and security. Your security is on the condition of continuous obedience to the word of God. THE PAINFUL LOSE THROUGH UNCONTROLED PASSION: Hebrews.12:15-17; Gen.25:29-34. Here we are warned of Esau’s lifestyle. You see the following in his life. (1) Indiscipline. (2) Inordinate affection. (3) Indulgence. (4) Insensitivity. (5) Ingratitude. (6) Infidelity. (7) Inconsistency. He lost his birthright and Abrahamic covenant blessings because of ordinary food. By the time he realized it, it was too late though he cried but he could not recover it anymore. Pro.5:8-14; Pro.6:25-29, 32-33; Pro.7:26-27. Many people trade their eternity away because of temporal things like Esau think of Sampson, Solomon, Judas Iscariot, Achan, Demas, and Rueben etc. PERSONAL DECISION THAT DETERMINED DESTINY: Daniel.1:8; 1Cor.9:24-27. Ruth.1:13-19. Ps.101:2-8.Jer.35:1-18. It is our decision that determined our destiny; good and godly decision will lead you to heaven while bad and ungodly decision leads to hellfire. Your decision determines how you live, walk and talk. Ungodly men and women are evil because of their decision to be ungodly and unrighteous. We need to take the following decisions. (1) To live for Christ. (2) To look up to Christ. (3) To lean on Christ. (4) To learn from Christ. (5) To love Christ. (6) To labour for Christ. (7) To Listen to and obey Christ in all things and at all times. That means you repent of your sins, turn away from them and accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. WHERE WILL YOU SPEND ETERNITY: HEAVEN OR HELLFIRE DEPENDS ON YOUR DECISION TODAY? TO SPEND ETERNITY IN HEAVEN YOU MUST LEARN NOT TO LIVE LIKE LOT’S WIFE AND ESAU.
