PLEASE SHARE!!! CHAMP and ALICIA: URGENT FINAL RESCUE PLEAS for Two Resilient Young Pit Bull Mixes Looking for Happy Futures – from Anne Arundel County Animal Control, Millersville, MD – Sherry Durm · FREE TO A RESCUE: The pull fees for both Champ and Alicia will be paid by a generous supporter of our shelter · Both dogs did well with people around food and with dogs. Alicia was “hyper” around cats, and Champ seemed scared of them. · Both received bordetella and distemper vaccinations (all dogs do). · Alicia arrived Aug. 20 and Champ arrived Sept. 4; both interact daily with volunteers. · Champ weighs 60 pounds and is about 2 years old. Alicia weighs 55.6 pounds and is about 1-2 years old. · Alicia has been spayed here and may have future health issues. We are issuing a joint urgent plea for Champ and Alicia because they have several things in common: They are both young, beautiful dogs who have overcome adverse backgrounds and crave human affection. And, sadly, they both have been at the shelter for a relatively long time and urgently need to move to a home atmosphere where they can receive the amount of human attention they both need and deserve. Please read their stories and consider taking one or both of these fine animals: ALICIA: When her owner found her bleeding badly, he threw her out to wander the streets. She was brought to our shelter after a call by another person who had talked to the owner. When Alicia arrived, she had a prolapsed uterus, which our vet has corrected; she also now is spayed. However, the doctor said there is a possibility that Alicia may have vaginal tumors later on in her life. We will be glad to provide you with her health records. Alicia is eager to please – just look at her face in her picture -- but seems not to have had any training; she has a lot of energy but no idea quite how to use it. But, again, she craves your approval and is still very young, so with some training, attention and love, she will become a well-mannered dog. CHAMP: In his two short years, handsome blue-and-white Champ has had at least two owners that we know of: the man who gave him up to us because he was “moving – can’t take” and a previous family gave Champ to that man six months earlier. Champ arrived without much information about his former life. He lived indoors in a household without other pets or children and is housebroken. The former owner’s father, who brought Champ to the shelter, described him as “friendly, active, smart and playful.” Volunteers say he is very strong, can pull hard and could benefit from some training. Interestingly, without comparing notes, two of our volunteers came up with unusual, but strikingly similar, descriptions of Champ; one called him “resilient,” and the other said he “seems friendly but not needy.” Champ and Alicia are young dogs with great potential who are looking ahead to spending long, happy lives at someone’s home. Can you help them do that? We know your work is often difficult, but please know that it is always appreciated! Please share this plea for Champ and Aliia. All Pit Bulls at AACAC are ONLY available thru rescue. The green check on the photos mean we are looking for a rescue for these dogs.
