Reliable sources told Phayul that the man, whose name is not known as yet, died after he was denied medical treatment at a hospital. Meanwhile, another man, Lo Pelsang killed himself in detention in protest. 10 Tibetans were severely injured on August 12 as Chinese police opened fire on hundreds of Tibetans outside the local Chinese administrative office protesting against the arrest of Wangdak, head of Shukpa village who is popular in the locality for his honesty and brave confrontation with Chinese authorities. The Chinese authorities have also denied medical treatment to Wangdak’s son Kunga Sherab and several others. The source also said the authorities have not allowed bullets to be removed from those who have been injured. Many Tibetans were arrested following the crackdown. Twenty five among those arrested are Lo Pelsang, Pema Gyalo, Younten Kyab, Tagha, Kunga Tenzin, Dawa Tashi, Karma Tashi, Tashi Gonpo, Kunga Sherab, Yeshi, Jamyang Sonam, Tashi, Tsering, Gyalug, Thupten Choephel, Lakyab, Wangchen, Bhumo, Tsogyal, Bugyal, Yangchen Lhamo, Tsekyab Wangmo, Yeshi Donma, Yangchen Pelmo, Karma Rinchen. There are around 700 people in Shukpa village, according to the source. “But now only a few children can be seen in the village as most of the villagers above the age of 12 have been detained.
