On that day l got this call that a fellow Nigerian brother married with two lovely kids who lives here in Malaysia was feeling very sick and would like to set an appoint with one of our specialist doctors at KPJ Specialist Hospital,Malaysia.I immediately arranged an emergency consultation for him at KPJ Damansara the nearest of our branches to him. Upon his arrival at the hospital the specialist doctor diagnosed his illness as kidney problem that required an immediate admission and medical care at KPJ Damansara Specialist. He then enquired for the cost of treatment and the treatment estimate was given to him.It will cost this young man about fifteen thousand ringgit to get specialist medical care for his serious kidney illness. This talented footballer who is struggling to maintain a family could not afford to get this money on this day or imagine how he could put this money together in months. I called him few minutes after his consultation with the doctor to know the outcome of his visit to our hospital and he told me he can not afford to pay the cost of treatment and would prefer to go on taking the Chinese herbal medication hes been taking. I suggested raising fund for him through friends,but he felt fifteen thousand cannot be put together soon enough and would he rather go on with his herbal treatment. I felt so sorry about this situation and decided to call him the next day to know how he was doing and let him know he is better off with specialist health care at KPJ Hospital than herbal medication at this stage of his illness. That evening l got a the sad news from his friend who introduced him to me,This young father of two little children passed away that evening. My heart broke and l could not hold back my tears as l recollect my phone conversation with this young man the previous day. I could not find sleep that night until l found an answer to that question l asked myself over and over;How can l prevent such a loss among us in future.My answer is a medical insurance policy for all Nigerians in Malaysia.
