PNGNRL confirm Lae for grand final The PNGNRL this afternoon confirmed that the 2014 Digicel Cup grand final has been moved to Lae.Speaking at press conference, PNGNRL chairman Sudhir Guru said that the decision by the PNGNRL board was made in the best interest of the players, the supporters, sponsors and the code as a whole.“PNGNRL spent endless hours in meetings to resolve this issue and to minimize the long-term impact on the future of the competition,” said Guru.On the question of security, Guru said 200 police officers plus 150 security guards will be deployed for security for the grand final.He said the Hela Wigmen club with the support of their governor and leaders had appealed to their supporters nationwide who were travelling down to Lae to refrain from starting trouble.Guru also expressed his thanks to the Agmark Gurias management for refusing toeasily win the game on forfeit and agreeingto have the game played in Lae.The grand final will be played this Sunday at the Lae rugby league grounds and is expected to draw a record crowd.
