POLICE DETAIN AITS REPORTER Amaechi Anakwue! We condemn the arrest and detention of our colleague AMAECHI ANAKWUE by Assistant Inspector General Zone 7 Mbu Joseph Mbu! Ameachi has been in police custody against his wish for over 12 hours on a frivolous allegation that he referred to Mbu as Controversial in a TV programme. We consider this action as a threat to democracy and all of its lofty ideals including the Freedom of information Act. For us, it is clear that people like Mbu should no longer be in the service of the police force which is considered as one of the hallmark of a decent and orderly society. It is therefore clear to us and indeed all Nigerians that Mbu does not deserve his recent promotion as AIG. We here by call on all peace loving and patriotic citizens to join us in our demand for the immediate and unconditional release of our colleague, Amaechi Anakwue whose professional competence not to compromise in the face of inducement, intimidation or harassment like this one from Mbu is not in doubt.
