POLICE FIRE TEAR GAS TO DISPERSE CHIEF CHIKOLOLAS SUBJECTS FROM DESCENDING ON HIM AT HIS PALACE ON SUSPICION THAT HE HAD CAUSED THE DEATH OF HIS RETAINER. Police in Solwezi on 20th April dispersed Chief Chikololas subjects from descending on him at his palace on suspicion that he had caused the death of his retainer. The retainer died four days before and the relatives performed Chikondo, a practice in which charms are applied on the deceased in the coffin which in turn leads the pall bearers to the person responsible for the death. In this case the relatives alleged that the coffin led them to the entrance of the Chiefs palace. Both Mobile Police officers and the crack squad were sent to maintain law and order in the area. “As Zambia Police, we dont believe in this practice and people sponsoring and taking part in such confusions will be dealt with accordingly.” Police Spokesperson
