POLICE IN SHEFFIELD HAD A REAL MAD FRIDAY Police dealt with a man armed with a machete in Sheffield, a drunk woman who abused a taxi driver after vomiting and pub fightS on ‘Mad Friday’. Supt Paul McCurry put details of all the incidents officers dealth with on Friday - one of the busiest days of the year as many people go out drinking - on Twitter. The first entry on the online log said the manager of a Barnsley pub had been assaulted by an offender who ran off - but CCTV was used to try and find him. Supt McCurry later wrote: “An intoxicated female has thrown up in a taxi and is verbally abusing the taxi driver in Sheffield. Officers are on route.” A violent domestic incident in Rosehill Park, Rawmarsh, was attended as well as burglary in Barnsley where Christmas presents were stolen. Officers were themselves assaulted at another domestic incident and had bottles thrown at them while responding to a fight in Conisbrough.
