POLICE are reminding people to make sure they lock up before going to bed, following two burglaries in Clipston. Some time between 10.15pm last night and 7am this morning (Friday), offenders stole cash, a purse and a mobile phone from a house in Naseby Road, after getting into the property through an unlocked front door. Another burglary happened at a house in Harborough Road, some time between 3am and 5am this morning. Thieves got into the house through an unlocked back door and stole a bag containing various items, including cash. DC Stewart Colville said: ““Many burglars are opportunists - they will take advantage of an unlocked door or window. “It may seem obvious advice but it’s important to get into the habit of locking all doors and making sure all windows are secure every time you go out and when you go to bed. “Items that can be stolen easily, such as keys, wallets and phones, should be kept in a safe place, out of sight and away from windows and doors.” Witnesses to either of these burglaries, or anyone with information, should call police on 101. Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
