PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING By Debbie McBee I am overwhelmed with thanksgiving my Lord, for you are the promise keeper. No matter what happens or what people have to say, all of your promises are yea and amen. Every promise that I have was made before the foundation of the world and I do not doubt your providence. I am delighted that everything that you promised will be fulfilled. I rejoice because of your great love for me and I rest in the assurance that you will never unlove me. Though some would leave in doubt and unbelief; I am grateful that you continue to keep me in the place that you have ordained. You have planted me and I am thankful for the roots that are deeply embedded in me. I take great comfort in you and your precious blood. Renew my mind, Lord. Keep me from wicked and deceitful thoughts. Cleanse me and wash me through and through. Let me remain sound in my thinking and let my thoughts be after your heart and ways. Serving you is a privilege and it is a pleasure living for you. You are the true Shepherd and you have blessed me to hear your voice. Let me not turn from what I know is true and right. Grant me grace, in these treacherous times. Thank you for my pastor and spiritual father. You knew who I needed to watch for my soul, and to guide me through this journey. I worship you my King, for you have made me glad. * PRAYER INSIGHT By Don Grigsby In Psalm 119:143, the word of the Lord speaks of trouble and anguish getting hold of us. Tsadick is the Hebrew letter that is used in the beginning of every Hebrew word for trouble. It is the word picture of a fish hook. It is from the awful treatment of the Hebrew prisoners by the Assyrians. They put hooks in their jaws and drug them around. Yet, in the Psalms, we know that the Lord promises to deliver us from all our troubles when we cry to him. He is a very present help in the time of trouble. In John 14, Jesus tells us to not let our hearts be troubled, and then if it were not so, he would have told us so. This just after his discussion of the betrayal of Judas. He will not leave us comfortless, and he will never betray our trust in him. Jesus will see to it that his word will be completed in our lives. We are not jerked around by the hooks of trouble like a caught fish, but we have been delivered from fear and captivity of doubt and uncertainty.
