PRAYER Prayer is the channel of communication between our souls and God. God speaks to us through His word; we respond to Him through our prayers, and He always listens to us. We cannot weary or burden Him by our frequent heart to heart communications. Prayer is the key in the hand of faith to unlock heaven’s storehouse where are treasured the boundless resources of omnipotence?” (Steps to Christ, 94, 95). DOES GOD ANSWER PRAYER? God wants to answer our prayers and there are countless promises and testimonies in the Bible that can be claimed in that regard. We need to ask with every expectation of getting answers! However, sometimes answers to prayer are delayed or go unanswered for a variety of reasons. He will answer prayer-‘the Lord is acquitted with your situation. Nothing escapes His notice. He will hear your prayers; for He is a prayer-hearing and prayer-answering God. Put your trust in Him, and He will certainly bring relief in His own way-(Evangelism, p.392:4.) If you will find voice-‘If you will find voice and time to pray, God will find time and voice to answer.-(My Life Today, p.16:5) PROMISES: Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:32. …….Whatever gift he promises is in the promise itself. ‘The seed is the word of God. ‘Luke 8:11. As surely as the oak is in the acorn, so surely is the gift of God in His promises. If we receive the promise, we have the gift. ‘…..-(Education, p.253:1-255:1,2) TESTIMONIES: Psalms 116:1-5 1 Samuel 2:1 The following thoughts indicate some of the more common REASONS FOR UNANSWERED PRAYERS. 1. We havent asked in faith. (Hebrew 11:6, Mark 11:24) 2. We are not appreciating God’s blessings-tithe & offerings. (Mal. 3:10) 3. We are asking for things outside of His will. (1 John 5:14, 15) 4. God is waiting for us to accept a greater answer. (1 Sam. 1:9-12) 5. We are disobeying God. (Isa. 59:1,21 John 3:22; ) 6. We limit God by our half-hearted prayers. (Dan. 9:3; Matt. 17:21)) 8. We are forgetting to first “go, then come” so far as forgiveness goes. (Matt. 5:23,24) 9. We are lagging behind God’s directing of our lives. (Luke 9:23; Ps. 119:105) 10. We are seeking a supernatural remedy when a natural remedy—granted a remedy requiring dying to self—is available. (2 Kings 20:7) “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Phil 4:6 Compiled By: Watchman Watchword
