PRESS RELEASE FROM: Chillicothe Public Library “Back 2 Books” Grant for Chillicothe PLD The Chillicothe PLD has received a grant for $3,348 in support of the library’s project Books Bring You the World. The funds will be used to update and expand the library’s collection of resources in the areas of Geography and World Culture. The resources will support World Travelers and other summer programs at the library, and supplement materials available to area students year-round. Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library (ISL), a Division of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), under the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA). Secretary of State & State Librarian Jesse White notes, “Libraries are the cornerstones of our communities and are the best and most reliable sources Illinois residents have for information access, resource sharing and materials that encourage reading and help develop lifelong learners.” Senator Richard Durbin commented, “Federal support for education is an investment in our children’s future and in our nation’s competitiveness…Federal assistance for library media resources helps prepare our children for the increasing demands of an information age.”
