PRESS RELEASE YOUNG PEOPLES PERSPECTIVE ABOUT HIS EXCELLENCYS 3RD TERM AMBITION Sierra Leone gained independence on Thursday 27th April 1961 from our British colonial masters since we were tired of the sort of maltreatment and disenfranchisement we were going through. Thanks to our forefathers like Sir Milton Margai who fought that war for all Sierra Leoneans. In 1967 we had coups which the educated elites called tripartite coup. We all revolted against those coups and we restored the legitimate government in power who was no less a person but Siaka P. Stevens. Rest in peace where ever you are sir. In 1971 Sierra Leone became a republican state. Shortly afterward we had another problem which sent Siaka Stevens into exile. We fought a good fight and he was reinstated. In 1978 Siaka Stevens with his then APC party made up their solemn minds and changed the country into one party state with reasons the postulated to the indigenous people and the international community. In 1985 with reasons best known to Siaka Stevens, he decided to hand over to Joseph Saidu Momoh which he had right to. The only truthful president we have ever had who went on television and openly said he has failed the people and the nation as a whole. With the obnoxious rule of Siaka Stevens and his successor Joseph Saidu Momoh, youths of this nation revolted and ran into the bush with arms and ammunition. The NPRC headed by captain Valentine Strasser took over and they gained international recognition since they came with the ambition of handing over power to democratically elected civilian government in three 3 years as they promised. Within the ranks and files of the NPRC there came a disagreement among themselves and in 1995/1996 a palace coup took place led by retired brigadier Julius Maada Bio. Pressure was mounted on the NPRC2 to hand over power as soon as possible. The leader by then promised the nation that he will hand over in three months time after conducting an election. Election was conducted after Bintumini2 and the country went back to the popular rule, the civilian rule. With the rebel war still tensed, a history repeated itself when Dr. Tejan Kabba went to exile in Guinea for 9 months. He was called and reinstated to the seat of honour. In 2002 the notorious rebel war was announced OVER. In 2007 a major political changed happened when the APC took over power in an election dubbed credible. In 2012 the ruling government was given chance to run for another term by the masses even though there were skirmishes about the credibility of the result which led the main opposition to go to court as they were directed by the National electoral Commissioner (go police). In short, the case was thrown out After the election of the ruling party in which they elected the president as the party leader and chairman for another term, a branded infamous politician by the name of BALUNGO KOROMA went on radio and told the people that since the APC party has given the president a third term as leader and chairman of the party, the country is also going to give him third term because de pa still strong. Some People said that Balungo Koroma only tested the minds of the people. We heavily responded against that and the news went shoulder cold. We listened to the then opposition flag bearer asking the president to come out with a statement both on the print and electronic media if he has no hands in such a dreadful rumor but to no avail. However, with the repetition of the statement by a member of the APC party Hon. Robin Fallay after we have totally forgotten about the news, we the young people there for want to say: 1.THE PRESIDENT MUST COME OUT BOLDLY ON RADIO AND TELEVISION AND DISOWN SUCH STATEMENT 2. THAT NO ATTEMPT SHOULD BE MADE TO TAMPER WITH THE CONSTITUTIONAL REVIEW PROCESS TO SUIT ANYBODYS COMFORT 3. THAT ANY MANIPULATION ON THE REVIEW PROCESS TO SUIT ANYBODYS COMFORT, WE AS YOUNG PEOPLE WILL RESPOND WITH THE STRONGEST RESISTANCE AS WE DO NOT WANT TO BACK TO THE 11 YEAR CIVIL 4. NO THIRD TERM NO EXTENSION Signed Jonathan Brython Baion President Youths of Today-Sierra Leone
