PROTEST THE HOMOPHOBIC SAINT! LGBTI people should protest on December 8th when the Catholic Church canonizes John Paul II and makes him a saint! The canonization process, like all church processes, is a hoax – based on the determination that the candidate interceded in “miracles.” However in most cases, this goofiness does no great harm. However Catholics believe that certain saints are associated with certain life situations. Catholics take their special needs to these patron saints who they believe will listen to their prayers and plead to God on their behalf. For example, as a kid, I would pray to St. Anthony when I lost something and to St. Francis for a sick animal. Again, this nonsense usually does no great harm. But in what life situation would this homophobic saint be a patron? Would Catholics pray to this creepy saint if they hated themselves or others for being gay? Pray to this creepy saint to make them straight? Pray to him in order to damage LGBTI well-being in the world? This goes way beyond just the stupid magical thinking of religion.
