PSA-China Pastel Exchange Update: 1st China (Suzhou) Biennial International Pastel Art Exhibition (October 24, 2014) After a very full day on Thursday, we returned to the hotel to pack an overnight bag for Fridays trip to HangZhou. That simple task was followed by packing my large bag for storage at the hotel during the trip. My carefully de-wrinkled suit and white shirt were rolled and tucked away for instant re-wrinkling. The three hour ride to the city of HangZhou, a metropolitan area of more than 21 million, offered a look at the landscape as viewed from a bus on a new freeway. In all directions construction projects were in progress. A blanket of pollution hung over the landscape. Seeing Chinese citizens as tourists was more interesting than the rebuilt Leifeng Pagoda and the boat ride on West Lake. Having a sinking feeling that if I did not rest and sleep I would be in serious trouble, I opted out of attending the evening performance of Impression West Lake and retreated to the early comfort of a good nights sleep.
