PSA: If you are going to comment on the very sad Ebola epidemic in West Africa and the single reported case in the U.S.A., please, I beg you, make an attempt to do so in a well informed and intelligent manner. If you have the urge to post something which contains the words plague or pandemic, simply walk away. Additionally, if you see an article posing as scientific fact which deviates in content from all other information being disseminated, do not take it automatically as truth... do yourself, and everyone else a favor and find out if it is from a reputable source. In fact, lets not limit this to Ebola, let us apply this in general, to everything we decide we have an opinion worth posting on the internet or speaking out loud. I am very tired of seeing the unqualified and uninformed posting factual information that is represented by unreliable and disreputable news sources (though whether any are reputable at all is up for debate, I know) and supposed scientific journals who do not have legitimate, peer reviewed evidence and sources for their claims. You are doing yourself a disservice, potentially causing panic where it is not called for, and generally spreading ignorance rather than truth if you cannot be bothered to do some critical thinking and fact finding about what you see and hear, before opening your mouth. If you do not have the good sense to question and research radical media claims (or any media, or claims at all - whether you perceive them to be correct or not), or to understand that science is based off of observable, testable, repeatable data, then you have a set of problems that greatly outweigh this Ebola issue. More to the point, do everyone a favor and keep your ridiculous ideas and facts to yourself. We will all be grateful. Thanks.
