PSA of the Day: Peace must be made where it is not given. Perhaps it is given in our clumsy making of it. Perhaps our making isnt making at all, but merely disposing ourselves to receive it, a fragile thing given only to the sayers of dua, the receivers of covenant, the open-handed and broken-hearted, the wailers at the wall. Sometimes, the makers of peace are alone in the effort. Sometimes some folk refuse to cooperate. They persist in their anger or arrogance, their pride or grief as if these things were God-given and righteous. But the makers of peace must be more persistent, must be relentless with their forgiveness, courageous in their vulnerability, firm in their hope. They must be obstinate and delicate, wounded and war torn, sure-footed and shining. They must refuse their own power and become powerful in the refusing. We need makers of peace: not raisers of hell, not pounders of pulpits. We need sayers of dua, open-handed, broken-hearted, wailers at the wall. God waits for these to work, and works in them.
