PUBLIC NOTICE Geophysical Survey for Acquisition of Fresh set of 3-Dimensional Seismic Data Whilst packing and moving away has of necessity become the rule of the game for our international investment community in the face of the Ebola epidemic, the Petroleum Directorate is pleased to recognize a few notable exceptions to this seeming general rule. TGS Geophysical Company and African Petroleum are amongst such longstanding partners that have so far demonstrated their respective commitment to keeping their activities alive for better or for worse. As a key component of standard exploration work programme, a tripartite arrangement for a three-week field exercise has resulted in the acquisition of a fresh set of 1000 km2 of 3-Dimensional multi-client seismic data. This effectively brings the cumulative figure of readily available 3-D data to 7,268 km2. Availability of 3-D data is imperative for a better determination of the relative significance of identified leads and drillable prospects, which are eventually ranked for effective decision making. This development therefore represents a notable accomplishment for the oil and gas sector, and the country as a whole. As we appreciate the Government and people of Sierra Leone for the extraordinary resilience we’ve shown in the wake of this unprecedented Ebola scourge, the Directorate wishes to convey assurance that like any high-reliability regulatory agency, it will continue to deny Ebola the opportunity to erode the well-earned confidence in Sierra Leone’s budding hydrocarbon landscape.
