PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT The Lowdown rarely gets involved in petty student elections, but we feel we have a moral, spiritual and gastronomical obligation to intervene in this circumstance. You may or most likely may not be aware of the upcoming sideshow to the Victorian State Election, the Woroni Editorial Election. While we have little faith in the voting public to ever make a proper decision in anything - it is a little known fact that we at The Lowdown are Clerical Fascists - we would like to direct our listeners attention to a one Samuel Guthrie - rumoured Freemason and provocateur. In running for editor of Woroni, this man would like to be one of the trend setters and agenda benders on campus. HOWEVER, may we direct you to the Mr. Samuel Guthries candidate statement, line 6, paragraph 1. At the end of line 6, Mr Guthrie goes on to say ...in an ideal world it would have more than it could possible (SIC) print in a fortnightly addition. We must all ask ourselves: could a man who intentionally or negligently omits the letter Y after the word possible truly be trusted with such an esteemed role? Can a man with such a lack of attention to detail be trusted to run the only competition the Murdoch Press has? We have on good authority from a source and resident at Mr Guthries Kingdom, otherwise known as UniLodge, that Mr Guthrie has slowly but surely descended into despotism and rexism. Our source - who only gave the mysterious nickname of Franny RINGO Gags went on to inform us that no fewer than on EIGHT (8) (viii) occasions had Mr Guthrie, who insists on being called The Chosen One, had made threats of annexation, embargo, and insurrection on Ringos residence. We at The Lowdown do not for one minute intent to influence this election.
