PURUSHOTTAM KARANDAK 2013 Ojha by Dhole Patil college of Engg. Pune. In an attempt to abort a girl child after succumbing to pressure from his mother, Mr. Indurkar witnesses a horrifying incident where the clinic compounder throws the aborted foetus for dogs to eat. Horrified by this image, he suffers from mental trauma. His wife too runs away from the clinic and conceives the baby girl. But the image makes a deep impact on Mr. Indurkar’s psyche and he suffers from hallucinations. As the daughter grows up, Indurkar’s metal health deteriorates with the hallucinations from the past, worry for his child and the baggage of guilt he carries because he once wanted to kill her. One day while he is on his way to the market, he sees a girl being harassed and disturbed by this, he kills the goons and is later tried in court. The narrative happens in a retrospective flashback and part by part unfolds the story of Mr. Indurkar. By far, this is one of the best productions and performance happened yet at Purushottam. It was a surreal performance that made you lose sense of time and the audiences were literally hypnotized. The way the writer and director have played with space time compression and expansion is stupendous and worth lauding. Everything just came into perfect sync for this play and I am falling short of words to write about it. The music, lights, choice of cast, location change, acting and overall timing of the play just seemed so perfect that this play is worthy of going into the final nine.
