PWA OFFERS PRIZE TO 1000TH MEMBER Started in 1966 by a handful of residents on Biscay Pond, Pemaquid Watershed Association (PWA) now looks toward topping 1000 members. PWA has more than doubled in membership over the past 7 years, with 478 members in January 2007 and 989 members as of mid-November 2013. Membership dues are PWA’s primary source of income, funding its important work of conserving the natural resources of the Pemaquid Peninsula. With only 11 members to go until PWA reaches the milestone of 1000 members, the PWA Board of Directors has decided to offer an incentive for joining to see if the organization can reach the goal by year’s end. The prize to the person who becomes the 1000th member is a free 2-night stay for up to 4 people next summer at the rustic cabin on PWA’s Osborn Finch Wildlife Sanctuary in Waldoboro. The 11-acre nature preserve features 300 feet of tidal frontage on the shore of the Muscongus River. The cabin sits atop a ledge at the edge of the river, with a pocket beach nearby, and is a tranquil retreat. The value of the 2-night stay is $100. Support PWA’s mission by becoming a member today by mailing a tax-deductible donation to PWA at PO Box 552 in Damariscotta, ME 04543. The Individual dues rate is $25, the Family dues rate is $35, and the Business Member dues rate is $100. Beyond the chance to win a stay at a seaside cabin, there is the inherent membership benefit of the satisfaction from knowing that one’s dues are an investment in land and water quality. For more information on PWA and a membership form, visit pemaquidwatershed.org, email [email protected], or call 207-563-2196.
