Painting your Narrative from Perception and Feelings - Bonnard to Matisse Wednesdays | 9:30am–12:30pm 10 Weeks | January 14 – March 18 youtube/watch?v=GXIsWU0RRFA Bonnard and Mattise, each in their own way, did not necessarily paint to record; instead each reconstructed painterly elements based upon their personal interests and fondness of their subject. In this class students will develop and experience capturing their unique of-the-moment visual narrative in a painting. Learn how to select your own color sense and composition perspective through your experience of your selected subject via illuminated memory. He will teach how to move through a direct to a symbolic representation following your interior voice and selected methods of style. In this course you will learn and experience how to use color, texture, form, and shape as tools to create your reflected reactions of the scene or a moment, leaving behind literalness. Students will have a review of how to effectively use preparatory sketches and studies as idea generators and experiment with wash drawing in their selected media. There will be demonstrations, lectures and one-on-one attention.
