Pangnirtung Co-op Reports Profit and Growth Pangnirtung, NU - On November 5, the Board of Directors of Pangnirtung Co-op reported to members on another year of growth and prosperity. Over 150 members attended Pangnirtung Co-op’s Annual General Meeting to hear reports from the Board and Pauloosie Keyootak, a Director on the Board of Arctic Co-operatives Limited. At the meeting, the Co-operative announced a 2013 patronage refund to members of over $675,000. This is the 4 th consecutive year that the Co-op has paid patronage dividends, and each year the payment amount has increased. “Our business has been growing steadily for the past four years – and this means more money in our members’ pockets,” says General Manager, Allan Paterson. In addition to returning cash to members, the co-operative has used its financial strength to expand and upgrade the member-owned businesses. At the AGM, plans for construction of a new retail store were discussed. Pangnirtung Co-operative Limited was incorporated in 1968. Since then, its membership has grown to over 770 active members. The co-operative currently operates a retail Co-op store, an Inns North Hotel and provides cable television and fuel distribution services. Supporters of the Nutrition North Canada (NNC) Program, Pangnirtung Co-op remain committed to complete transparency regarding price savings. Arctic Co-ops leverage the NNC program to bring the lowest price possible to all consumers for perishable, nutritious foods, ensuring the entire Nutrition North Canada price savings, as required by the Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada Department (AANDC), is passed on to our members and customers.
