Paradise Lost A new collection of flower brooches by Pia Wallén With her new Paradise Lost collection, the innovating Swedish fashion and textile designer Pia Wallén launches a line of bold brooches, crossing the boundaries between jewellery and accessories. The brooches are typical for Pia Wallén with their radical and powerful, yet playful, sophisticated and feminine expression. The name of the collection, Paradise Lost is a paraphrase to the English poet John Milton’s classic heroic epos from 1667, which deals with eternal issues of God and man, good and evil. In Pia Wallén’s case, the lost paradise symbolizes departure from home, family, and a blooming garden of wonderful flowers. ”These flowers represent a sense of loss — of home, family and a heavenly flower garden at Gotland,” says Pia Wallén. ”They illustrate the art of moving on, decorating myself with new paradisiacal flowers, like Eva’s fig leaves. At the same time, they represent my daughter and her passion for equestrian sport.” ”The idea is for the flowers to be worn with creative freedom — on a dress, a coat or a bag for example. Let them be reminders of o wondrously blossoming beauty for all seasons!” - Claes Britton, writer and creative director
