Pardon me if you saw this posting before but I was not sure it made it to Ann Arbor Townies... Sorry to report that my dear friend George Manupelli died Sunday, September 14. He lived in Ann Arbor through the 60s and 70s and was a filmmaker and the founder of the Ann Arbor Film Festival. He taught in the U-M art school, was a vital part of the ONCE Group, pioneering performance artists, and an influence on many artists who came in touch with him. He was part of the lives of many, many friends who loved and admired him, and who were regularly stimulated and entertained by him and who will never forget him and who miss him already. His daughter and grandchildren in Ann Arbor and San Francisco miss him. The art world will miss him. I am sad beyond telling. So long, old pal.
