Parent Memo From: Sr. Marie July 30, 2013 Congratulations to Nurse Genevieve: After being nominated by Mrs. Graham for the Johnson and Johnson Amazing Nurses Award, Nurse Genevieve is among the final ten nurses to be recognized! A total of twelve hundred nurses across the country were nominated for this award. Please log on to amazingnurses to read the information and cast your vote for Nurse Genevieve! Sacred Heart School is very proud of our nurse! Welcome to the new families: Many new families have registered for the various grades Pre K3 through eighth grade! We wish to welcome them to Sacred Heart and promise them our support as they entrust their children to our care. The theme for the school year will be: Growth in Faith, Knowledge, Community, and Service. The faculty, staff, and Home School Association have been planning ways that all students will grow in these areas. We will be extending the Extended Day Program to include all students through the eighth grade this year and will be providing some new extra-curricular programs; a Cooking Club with a professional chef is one, Scrapbooking, Photography, and School Newspaper are also being discussed. School building is being prepared! As the summer days are dwindling, the cleaners and repair crews are busy preparing the classrooms, hallways, and stairways for the opening of school. The Headstart program, too, is preparing to move its classes to the other Sacred Heart building on Cedar Street. Our Pre K to Grade 2 will be located on the first floor along with Mr. Deibert’s Music classes and the Extended Day Program. Mrs. Grace is moving to the old second grade classroom (much bigger space) and will be able to display the students’ art work for all to see. The cafeteria and kitchen are being painted awaiting the familiar faces of Mrs. Hicks/Wilson and Mrs. Nicoletti. Grades 5 – 8 will have the option of purchasing lunch ala carte as the high school students do. Important Information on the Website: Please check the website frequently for important information about the 2013-2014 academic year. It won’t be long now till the opening of school in September; grades 1 – 8 will begin on Wednesday, September 4 and Kindergarten will begin on Thursday, September 5. Both days will be half days. Pre K3 and Pre K4 will begin on Friday, September 6. The requirements for health information (physicals, immunizations, etc.) are listed under the Nurse’s page; all students will be required to have all the necessary information to Nurse Genevieve prior to the opening of school. No exceptions! School Uniforms: If you haven’t had a chance to order uniforms yet, you may need a trip to the Flynn and O’Hara Store very soon. The boys will have the option of wearing the white or the red polo shirt for the fall and the spring; however, all boys K – 8 will wear the white shirt and tie beginning on November 1. Flynn and O’Hara will guide you in your purchases for Sacred Heart. Financial and Home School Association Information: At this time, all registration/re-registration and academic fees should be paid in full. Tuition payments will begin in August through FACTS Tuition. If you have any questions regarding any of your obligations, please contact Jackie at 732 721-0834 or Mary Pat at 732 721-3400. Summer Assignments: I hope that everyone is completing their reading assignments as well as working on Acellus! Remember these assignments will be counted in with the first quarter marking period. The teachers have access to your assignments and can tell what you have completed and how long you spent on the assignment!! Excitement is in the air! As we move forward as the only Pre K3 – Grade 12 school in the Diocese of Metuchen, we are eager to plan events with the high school that will benefit each and every student! We are happy that you will be with us on this new adventure!
