Parenting. Its a very tricky thing. Tonight for example, you just get the one to sleep thats been talking to your exhausted-self, non-stop, all day, making you feel guilty for not listening carefully enough to every single sentence, and think, whew, I made it, just to walk-in on the boy-man carving his sisters names into his nightstand with a screwdriver. WHA???? WHY?? All because he loves them. Ha! Who knew I needed to tell the 11-year-old that not only do we not color on the walls, we also dont carve the nightstands. And, WHY OH WHY doesnt it seem like he even LIKES them in person??? Besides being completely dumbfounded at this unforeseen parenting dilemma, I want to find the right balance between people are more important than stuff/stuff is stuff/accidents happen and WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO THE NIGHTSTAND AND WHY DO YOU THINK THATS OK?? Oh my goodness. Im not sure I found the right balance. And, I think I might need a leave of absence. But, heavens, I dont think I can afford it. Theres no telling what Id come home to. #mercy #thingsyouforgottotellthem
