Paris Class Shoots with Sony Mirrorless Cameras Three and a - TopicsExpress

Paris Class Shoots with Sony Mirrorless Cameras Three and a half years ago, before the first Brooks Institute Semester in Paris program, most professional photographers never even considered a mirrorless camera as a professional tool. Despite the amazing results, the mirrorless camera was such a departure from photography’s traditional toolset that it took quite a while for photographers to start thinking differently--thinking mirrorless. It was difficult for a professional photographer to take any other camera manufacturer seriously outside of the major players. They were wrong! Nino Rakichevich and Christopher Broughton were the first instructors at Brooks Institute to use Sony Nex-7’s and they bought them specifically for Brooks Institute’s first Semester in Paris. On the first trip, Nino and Christopher also brought their larger DSLR’s but ended up using their Sony mirrorless cameras 90% of the time. The second year they each bought one more mirrorless Sony Nex-7 and used them exclusively during the entire 10 weeks in Paris! Not a single student used, or even considered, a mirrorless camera during the first two years. However, after seeing the results from the previous trips, this year’s group of thirteen Brooks students and two faculty took a total of 16 Sony mirrorless cameras! The final count of mirrorless Sony cameras in Paris: six Sony a6000, three Sony A7r, two A7, three Sony RX1r (loaned by Sony for the trip) and two Sony NEX-7s. After seeing the results firsthand, one student even bought a Sony A6000 in Paris! Sony mirrorless cameras have revolutionized how photographers now shoot and without a doubt has now become a big part of the future of professional photography!
