Parliament Endorses anti-Terrorism, anti-Money Laundering Law Omdurman – The National Assembly endorsed new anti-terrorism and anti-money laundering laws on Wednesday. Chairman, Dr Al-Fatih Ezzedin stated to press that the approved laws will cement good governance and contribute to maintaining national security. State Minister of Finance Abdul Rahman Dirrar highlighted that the anti-money laundry law will prevent cross-border crime, asserting the laws feasibility in combating corruption. He revealed that Sudan was subject to evaluation over money-laundry and terrorism last December. Head of the Defense Committee in the National Assembly, Malik Hussein explained that the current tensions in neighboring countries added to the expansion of Sudanese borders has exposed the country to money-laundry operations. The assembly also endorsed the report of the Financial and Economic Affairs submitted by Babiker Mohammad Tom. The report outlined the performance of the investment apparatus during 2013 and recommended an increase of electricity production. During his address to the assembly, Minister of Investment, Dr. Mustafa Ismail asserted that 2015 will witness great progress in investment, reaffirming the governments commitment to remove all obstructions in the way of foreign investment. He called for the activation of the 2009 land-law, stressing the importance of the laws reintegration on investment. He concluded by commending the projects implemented by Rajhi Company.
