Part 1_Can We Use Verses of Jihaad for Tableegh? Bism’illahi Rahmani Raheem, Nahmaduhu Wa nu salli’ A’laa Rasoolihil Kareem, Ammaa Ba’d Responding to allegations: 1) That those associated with tableegh utilise the ahadeeth linked to jihad,and present them as proofs for their own endeavours. Today’s Ulama Are Making This Blunder It is highly astonishing that such an allegation is made mainly by Ulama and not from the awaam. It is surprising because, although voyages made in Jihaad are normally and commonly understood to be for military combat, the linguistic sciences and texts do NOT limit jihad to martial sense. Qitaal is not the true objective, it is seen as a something done when one is compelled to do it. The actual meaning of jihad is striving to raise the kalimah of Allah(swt). The last step and rank in this striving is jihad In the tafseer mazhari “Kutiba A’laykum-ul Qitaal wa huwa kurhullakum” – Fighting is prescribed upon you and you detest it… The tafseer reads, that the superlative nature of the merits of jihad amongst all deeds is due to its being a means of spreading islaam and guiding creation. Whoever derives guidance from the efforts of the mujahideen, will have their good deeds accumulated into the account of good deeds of the mujahideen. And even more meritorious than this is teaching the outward and inner sciences of the deen. This is because through this the reality of Islaam is spread much more. In truth, even the most hardened critic cannot deny the immense guidance that is spreading through the work of tableegh in our times. Thousands, nay hundreds of thousands of people who never prayed salaah have become regular practitioners of this. Many non-muslims have converted to islam through their efforts. This incapable one (Mawlana Zakariyya) has written a detailed and researched treatise on the laghwi and shari’ meanings of Jihaad in the work Awjaaz al Masalik Sharh Muwatta Imaam Maalik, and also in the Haashiya of Laami’ al Bukhari ala Jaami al Bukhari.
