Part TWO. As an artist my technique involves first covering my entire canvas with a solid, single color of paint. If I’m working on a sunset scene the color will be orange, if midday, soft blue, if midnight, dark blue. This base coat helps to tie the whole painting together. And is in effect the truth upon which the painting is based. May I suggest that on this blank canvas of our new lives we first lay down a base coat of LOVE. God’s love if you believe, but LOVE in any case. I next begin to add background substance to the painting. This may be the sun, trees, mountains, whatever but they are elements upon which our painting is further based. Let the background on your canvas of LIFE be TRUTH. Let this universal principle of God’s LOVE be the background of all our relationships. Indeed, TRUTH is the only principle upon which to build if we are to avoid more pain and suffering down the road, and if we are to truly act out of our base color, LOVE. Sincerity “O thou who art enamoured with the beauties of Truth, and has fixed thy heart on the simplicity of her charms, hold fast thy fidelity unto her, and forsake her not; the constancy of thy virtue shall crown thee with honour. The tongue of the sincere is rooted in his heart; hypocrisy and deceit have no place in his words. He blusheth at falsehood, and is confounded; but in speaking the truth he hath a steady eye. He supporteth as a man the dignity of his character; to the arts of hypocrisy he scorneth to stoop. He is confident with himself; he is never embarrassed; he hath courage enough for truth, but to lie he is afraid. He is far above the meaness of dissimulation; the words of his mouth are the thoughts of his heart. Yet with prudence and caution he openeth his lips; he studieth what is right, and speaketh with discretion. He adviseth with friendship; he reproveth with freedom; and whatsoever he promiseth, shall surely be performed. But the heart of the hypocrite is hid in his breast; he masketh his words in the semblance of truth, while the business of his life is only to deceive. He laugheth in sorrow, he weepeth in joy; and the words of his mouth have no interpretation. He worketh in the dark as a mole, and fancieth he is safe; but he blundereth into light, and is betrayed and exposed, with his dirt on his head. He passeth his days in perpetual constraint; his tongue and his heart are for ever at variance. He laboureth for the character of a righteous man; and huggeth himself in the thoughts of his cunning. O fool, fool! the pains which thou takest to hide what thou art, are far more than would make thee what thou wouldst seem; and the children of wisdom shall mock at thy cunning when, in the midst of security, thy disguise is stripped off, and the finger of derision shall point thee to scorn.” 2 In what I call the middle ground I begin to add more specific images in more detail but still meant to be a slight distance from the viewer and still a bit unclear. Here I need faith that the background and base that I have built upon will support the details of the painting to come. If this step is successful the final painting will usually be so as well. Let FAITH be your middle ground. FAITH in GOD, faith in yourself, your family, friends and fellowman. The FAITH of a positive attitude of hope and faithful harmony with the eternal laws of nature. 3) “Much of the mystery of existence may be accounted for when we come to recognize the fact that the forces of nature obey the great law of magnetism; although man is powerless to explain the reason or the origin of this law. It is not necessary to shut ourselves up in a narrow world of belief, and grope outward in the dark, wondering what this mystery is. God works through recognized forces, fixed in their laws and natural in their results.” 3 Now the stage is set and I can add my players. The details of my story. The people, action, animals, buildings or whatever I desire to complete the painting. I cannot tell you what to paint here on your canvas. That choice is each of yours. But what ever details of your life you choose to paint on your canvas, if it is built upon the foundation of LOVE, TRUTH, and FAITH., how can you go wrong?
