Part of carrying on the tradition willed to us by Nick Danger, part of my being the Promotions Director and not being on the air..(there is NO point at working at a radio station and not being on the air, then it is just a boring office job) and part of a genuine enthusiasm for local/regional music, for two years James Schiedel and I did The Backyard every Sunday night... We picked the music, did all the prep, did the graphics, sold some of the commercial spots, mostly all ten minutes before we went on the air. Seat of your pants, freeform, no pretense, no puking, unbridled FUN... just us and whatever guests we had that week... I dont recall ever having a conversation with upper management about the content of the show, we did several live showcases featuring the bands we played, and we did radio the way radio should be done... It will probably never be like this again. If this is near the end of the road for me in radio (I dont think it is, just saying) I (we) will always have this to be proud of... Thanks, many thanks, to James for putting this together, it is very, very much appreciated.
