Partial notes from tomorrows sermon at Open Road Biker Church. I post these notes because I know Jesus is the answer, no matter the question about life. I hope you will find them both encouraging and inspiring to your faith. ----------------------------------- Matt 5:10 [10] Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Spiritual persecution is an evidence of the life of Christ in your life. If you are living this life to glorify Jesus you will be persecuted by the world. Even in some small ways we are all to a degree, persecuted because of our faith. It seems everyone has their right to freedom of speech now a days. That is except for the Christian. The truth is that in our own country the law and the people are becoming less and less tolerant of hearing about Jesus. What word could be so powerfully divisive in a free country like the US, that the very mention of it from the mouth of a six year old child would make international news. What single spoken word from a first grader in CA could spark global attention? The name of Jesus. While telling a story to her class relating to her Christmas experience at home as she was told to do. First grader Brynn Williams story led to the words baby Jesus. At that point she was immediately told, and I quote Stop right there! Go take your seat, “After Brynn took her seat, the teacher explained to Brynn in front of all the other students that she was not allowed to talk about the Bible or share its verses,” Little Brynns desire to share the real Christmas story with her class that day happened because she lives in a home where the true meaning of Christmas is taught. Will the day come when it will be unlawful to speak of Jesus on the streets. In our homes. From this pulpit. We can blame it on our leadership. That would be the easiest and the most convenient way to feel better about it. But I personally place the blame on the lack of spiritual leadership in the home. We have rights as Christians and as Americans, and we still cower to those would mock us to avoid persecution at work, at home, or in general. The truth is the world, our country, our homes, need godly men and women to live their faith. If you desire to speak of Jesus name out loud in a world starving for the gospel. You are not going to fit in. Neither your words nor your example are going to agree with the worlds way of thinking. Why do we pack all this equipment in a truck. Haul it to the square. Unload it, set it all up again. Sing 20 songs about Jesus. Load it all up again. Then bring it back here to unload it again and set it all back up. We do that because Jesus is Lord! We do that because maybe one person will hear Christians singing about their savior, and respond. We will sing about Jesus in a bar Sunday afternoon. Because I love bars? No, because Jesus loves the people in that bar just as He loves the people in the mall or at the library. I hope you go to bars a lot too. Maybe not to sing, but to be a witness of the life changing love of Jesus in your life. One thing I love about ministry is that everyday it brings with it a chance to make a difference in someones life. God given opportunities to speak into someones heart. Divine appointments. You have them too. Everyday. Our part is to be obedient and trust God with the results as we move forward in that moment. Not to stifle the moment by guarding ourselves against what others may think.
