Participated in this on a friends post. Im not bothering to tag anyone to get their response, but anyone who wants to throw in their 15 which might be future reading for me, feel free. Im also breaking the rules a little by sticking in brief explanations. The rules: Dont take too long to think about it. List 15 authors (poets included) whove influenced you and that will always stick with you. List the first 15 you can recall in no more than 15 minutes. Tag at least 15 friends, including me, because Im interested in seeing what authors my friends choose. 1. Isaac Asimov (because its freakin Asimov. lol) 2. Robert Heinlein (Stranger in a Strange Land for doing whats right even when you dont fit in) 3. Frank Herbert (For giving me something to read during a possible shark attack) 4. Douglas Adams I mean the Hitchhikers Guide series has to be recognized for its greatness) 5. Khalil Gibran (Like Confucius, just chocked full of insights) 6. Fyodor Dostoyevsky (Crime and Punishment for the idea of how useful it is to know exactly where ones limitations lie) 7. Anne Rice (Cool vampires .. enough said. lol) 8. John Stuart Mills (Utilitarianism is probably one of the closest philosophies I have read that matches how I try to live my life.) 9. George Orwell (Animal Farm is just an awesome book) 10. A.A. Milne (Winnie the Pooh made my childhood, and probably Pooh shaped my somewhat Taoist approach to life. Side thanks to Benjamin Hoff and the Tao of Pooh of reminding me of this in later life) 11. Bill Watterson (Calvin & Hobbes made me remember what my inner child always wanted to be. lol) 12. Edgar Allan Poe (Was there for me for my teenage darker phase) 13. William Shakespeare (Have to go again with its freakin Shakespeare) 14. Homer (Illiad and Odyssey made me love the tragic hero) 15. Stan Lee (Im sure there are alot of writers here I should thank, but he sort of represents to me the influence of all those comic books and their message of always try to do the right thing)
