Passengers’ Welfare Association, Jammu express Shock over Dubi Gali, Udhampur: Jammu, August 01: According to a Press release by TS Abrol, General secretary of All J&K Passengers’ Welfare Association, Jammu to Sachnews Jammu Kashmira meeting of All J&K Passenger’s Welfare Association held under the leadership of Pt RC Sharma and expressed deep shock and grief over the accident which held at Dubi Gali, Udhampur in which four person have died and several left serious injured and demanded Rs 10 lakh to the deceased family and Rs 5 lakhs to seriously injured beside treatment Rs 2 lakh to minor injured who faced mentally trauma in accident. While addressing the meeting, Mr Sharma lambasted the government for its utter failure to overcome the often occurring accidents in the state, in which thousands of people have lost the lives and family lost their earning hands. He asked the government to make a strategically policy to control the frequent occurrence of accidents in the state, which is matter of grave concern. He said that Omar led coalition government had failed to put a check on the accidents but people have no option to go where. He said, as per the reports, the accident occurred due to negligence of driver so a proper enquiry should be conducted and driver and owner should be made accountable for this accident. He asked the government to install equipment like ‘black box’ in the passenger vehicles to know about the reason of accident. He asked the government to give relief from Passenger Welfare Fund, which was collected by the government under J&K Passenger Welfare Fund Rules 2008. He said, “An immediate committee of experts should be constituted to take a survey of all roads and vehicles to know the cause of accidents so that accidents might be minimized.” Asking all existing Transporters’ Association to come forward to extend financially help to the victims and their families, he said that they may not feel neglected. He also questioned over the age of the bus, which is under cloud of doubt and department should clear its position. Launching a scathing attack on the transport department for allotting the contract of installing number plates in Jammu, to an outsider firm namely ‘M/S Real Mazon India Limited, he said that this company is blacklisted in many states of the India but in J&K this company is fleecing the people, which should be rectified immediately by cancelling contract.
