Patience and self-control are huge out-workings of faith. Faith working through the fruits of patience and self-control will demand that the external storm bows to the internal Christ in me. This takes spiritual aggression. Here our depth of character is tested. Believers with refined characters will not react to storms and manifest poor fruit, they will flee to the refuge of the secret place until they have the victory internally, so that they can speak peace to the storm. Christ-like character, maturity and authority lie in the self-aware, discerning and wisdom-soaked widening of the gap between stimulus and response.
