Patriot for Generational Change; Press Release: Hon. Munah E. Pelham Youngblood is a manipulator, an autocrat, a contradiction and blatantly corrupts: The Patriots for Generation Change (PGC) is a pro-democracy movement based in district #9, Monsterrado County. It is a conscious civil society movement that believes in gradual and systematic change processes. Since our establishment in 2012, we have concentrated on identifying ills at our community and district level in governance and social structure and advancing suggestions to impact change. Accordingly, in furtherance of our movement’s objectives, we recently embarked on scrutinizing the work of our Representative Hon. Munah E. Pelham Youngblood for the period she has already served; and we are pleased to bring to public knowledge our findings: 1. We firstly like to commend Hon. Pelham for calling and attending community meetings; but we also like to register our disappointment over her failure to implement the resolutions from those meetings. 2. She has proven to be a gross contradiction to the principles of Generational change that she once preached, as she’s not living up to them; for examples: I. she orchestrated a small secluded committee in the district to write the district council bylaw and rules which inaugurated her as the supreme leader of the district with the following powers: a) to appoint and dismiss any officials of the council as if they are being paid which has made the district subservient to her, b) It also made her the first signatory of the district account which is a violation of the “PMF” act on the power of county and district councils, c) The bylaw again made her the head of all the committees created by the bylaw and rules of the district. These are factors that have made her a clear contradiction, autocratic and a shameless manipulator. 3. She has increasingly become corrupt by failing to transparently account for the US$151,000.00 (one hundred and fifty one thousand united state dollars) allocated for the district development. Up to date, she has refused to publish the name of the one hundred and twenty two (122) students she claimed to have given scholarship to in the district, the schools they are attending, their classes and the amount paid for each of them. However, she was able to publish in detail her personal aid list. She also claims to have voted in favor of twelve bills and against three during her first (1st) seating but failed to state the reasons she supported or didn’t support those bills. This is a clear exhibition of the lack of transparency and accountability in the execution of her work. 4. Moreover, she forced her office staffers to sign commitment obligating them to relinquish 3000LD of their salaries to her to be used pay some of her partisans in the district who helped run her campaign during the gone election. Finally, it is often said that “justice denied somewhere is justice deny everywhere”. Therefore, as the people of district #9 are currently suffering the autocracticism, manipulation, and misrule of Hon. Pelham, we like to call on the conscience of the international partners, embassies near Monrovia, press, civil society organizations and stakeholders to join us in making Hon. Pelham reconcile her excesses and save our district from further bad governance. Let it made that if this is not done, we won’t relent to advise ourselves on actions that would be necessary to bring her to address the concerns of the district.
